From Basketball to Boxing
Darren Sealy, a former professional basketball player, made the switch to boxing six years ago. Standing at 6ft 9in, Sealy played basketball in Spain and Lithuania before returning to the UK to play for London-based teams. However, due to a lack of funding, Sealy turned to personal training and eventually found his way into the world of boxing.
Sealy's Journey in Boxing
Sealy began his boxing career by coaching and training full-time. He had 14 fights, five in the white collar circuit and eight as an amateur, before turning professional. He was granted a professional license in August 2022 by the British Boxing Board of Control.
Sparring with Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk
Sealy's life took a turn when heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury signed to fight MMA star Francis Ngannou. Recognizing the need for sparring partners of similar size to Fury, Sealy reached out to Ngannou's camp and was invited to spar with him. Later, Sealy was recommended to Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk and joined his camp to mimic Fury's style.
Impressive Performances
Sealy was not surprised by Ngannou's performance against Fury, as he had witnessed the hard work put in during sparring sessions. He commended Ngannou's work rate and power. Similarly, Sealy praised Usyk's down-to-earth personality and skills in the ring.

The Heavyweight Unification Bout
Fury and Usyk are set to face each other in the heavyweight division's first-ever four-belt unification bout. Sealy recognizes the historic significance of this fight and is grateful for the opportunity to be part of these camps.
A Chance for Redemption
Although Sealy suffered defeat on his pro debut, he will have the chance to redeem himself in a rematch against Phil Williams on February 10 in Brentwood.
