JOE JOYCE wants to give Joseph Parker a well-deserved night off with his iron jaw.
The 36-year old Putney heavyweight boxer has the most appropriate nickname in boxing, but The Juggernaut wants more than just an immovable or unstoppable force.
Joe Joyce hopes that style and not resilience will win him over Joseph Parker
Joseph Parker appears relaxed as he tries to discredit the dreams of Joe Joyce
WBO's No. 1 contender waited patiently to get his shot at Oleksandr Uzyk's titles. He did so with a few keep-warm fights against Christian Hammer, Carlos Takam and Carlos Takam.
The notoriously slow starter caused a panic in his fans with both TKO wins.
The painting puncher will also be demonstrating his boxing skills against Parker next Saturday.
According to the fine-art graduate, "I would like to stop relying upon my chin, if it's honest."
"I prefer to get out of the way of punches, block or slip them, and counter.
"I'm always striving to improve my skills, biomechanics, and that's what I love about boxing. You can always improve.
"I'm certain Parker and his team see a means of hurting me, but we'll have to wait."
Joyce was to lose the clash with Daniel Dubois in November 2020, but Joyce bludgeoned Dubois into submission after the buildup became spiteful.
The rivalry this time is much more calm -- at least for now.
Joyce stated that they are very similar in many ways. He's friendly.
"It's refreshing being involved in a lead up with an opponent such as that.
"But I'm sure he will be a lot more serious once the bell rings because I know he will."
