However, a win over Otto Wallin would make Tyson Fury's title mandatory under WBC rules. This title was previously retained against Deontay wilder.
Although Fury should theoretically be Whyte's next opponent if he defeats Wallin, there are still hurdles to overcome.

Wilder was defeated by Fury in round 11.
Whyte and The Gypsy King have fought for years with each other - they once sparred online in their early days.
This creates a stunning clash of styles, and the buildup would be well worth the pay per-view price.
They are however represented by different TV networks and promotions, so striking a fight agreement is not an option.
Andy Ruiz Jr
If Fury, 33, does not want to be Whyte's next man after October 30, Mexican American Ruiz (32), is an excellent alternative.
They were close to fighting last year, but they didn't agree on terms. Whyte (33) faced Alexander Povetkin (42), twice, and Ruiz beat Chris Arreola (41).
Ruiz, despite his shocking win over Anthony Joshua in 2019, is still a major player in the heavyweight division.
It's an exciting matchup because of his quick hands and Whyte’s power and aggression.
Anthony Joshua
Although it is unlikely, the domestic rematch will be an attractive option for both.
Joshua was defeated by Whyte, 31 in the amateurs of 2009, but Joshua lost the rematch six years later in the pros.
They were scheduled to fight again in 2019, but that fell through. This leaves the door open for a tri-finale.
They have mutual respect now, but it won't stop them from settling the scores in a huge British clash.
Deontay Wilder
The animosity between them has grown to great heights due to Whyte's inability to be considered for the WBC belt Wilder (35), at that time.
The Bronze Bomber will likely be motivated to continue boxing through massive fights.
He has previously spoken out about wanting to correct the record with Whyte, and he will not be afraid to do so.
Whyte would prioritize fury, but Wilder could be close behind.
Otto Wallin rematch
If Swede Wallin comes to London, Whyte's hopes of winning the world title will be dashed.
Povetkin attempted a similar feat in August 2020, but was eliminated in the rematch in February.
Wallin has a similar clause to Whyte, which allows him to take immediate revenge if he so chooses.
Wallin, 30 years old, boxed as an amateur internationally and was close to defeating Fury in 2019, after giving him 47 stitches.
