AMIR Khan was left baffled after seeing Faryal Makhdoom, his wife, do an unexpected interview on Sky Sports about her husband's fight against Kell Brook.
SecondsOut was interviewing the 34-year-old about the British blockbuster showdown, when he became distracted by his wife's talk of boxing.
Khan witnessed his wife interviewing Sky Sports
Khan is married to Makhdoom since eight years. She knows a lot about the sport.
Khan insists that she does not reveal her expert knowledge.
He asked: "Is the wife doing an interview with Sky?"
"What's the matter? I'm like 'wait a minute'.... She's very good at what she does, but she (pulls a funny face).
Khan was not interested in answering questions about Terrence Crawford's camp. The interviewer tried to push Khan, but Khan was distracted.
"I am a bit shocked. "I'm watching Sky talk boxing with my wife.
"She is a good boxer, and a lot people don't give credit to her. Sometimes she tells me what I should do in boxing.
"Say that we're watching a fight together. 'Ah, he should throw the jab a bit more. Why is he not going after the body? Because his guard is too low, he needs to hit the overhand left. He must get his hands up.
"So she knows a little bit about boxing, which is quite surprising to me because she normally keeps it quiet."
The interviewer laughed and said, "She'll get punditry work ahead of you."
Khan replied, "I know yes, who knows?"
WHAT SHE SAYS
In the same interview Khan was distracted from, Makhdoom called Brook boring.
She commented on Khan and Brook's first public meeting since the announcement of their fight, saying: "I was so impressed.
"Amir looked very confident and really chilled.
"And some of his discoveries were quite shocking.
"So it was funny. It went well. It made everyone laugh.
"Kell was a little... Kell needs... he was a little... boring."
When asked about what she was most shocked by her husband's remarks, the 30-year old TV star answered: "I think just the "shut up"!" It's just the plain old shut down.
"It's funny because Kell mentioned Amir being knocked out, and Amir claimed that you were punched with a jab. You couldn't get up.
"It was very funny.
"But you know what? Good luck to both fighters.
"It's hard sport, and I wish them all the best."
