MANNY PACQUIAO congratulated her son on his debut in amateur boxing with an emotional message via social media.
Manny Jr. took the first step to follow in his father's footsteps, winning Saturday night in San Diego in his amateur bow.
Manny Pacquiao Jr. made his amateur boxing debut last weekend in San Diego
by Marvin Somodio, his father's former assistant.
At the House of Boxing Gym, the 21-year old won a unanimous victory over Andres Rosales, a fellow rookie.
Pacquiao, a proud father who is running for President of the Philippines, took to Instagram to thank his son for raising his hand.
He wrote, "Congratulations my son @pacquiao.emmanuel for fighting and winning his US amateur fight at junior weight!" You are so proud.
Manny Jr., 21 years old, displayed a stiff jab at the club clash. He had numerous successes with his overhand right but was unable to place his man on the canvas.
The official scorecards were not released after the fight. Instead, the judges announced the Filipino winner.
Manny Jr., who made Wild Card Boxing his home, has shown tremendous promise despite his father encouraging him to concentrate on modeling and becoming an influencer on social media.
Former eight-weight world champion boxer said that he was discouraged from boxing.
"In our house, we don’t have any boxing or gloves equipment." We do have a basketball court.
He said, "It hurts me to watch him box, because I know how difficult it is."
Six months after his father's death, Manny Jr. won his first amateur win.
Pacman announced his retirement last September after his defeat by Yordenis Ugas, WBA welterweight champion, unanimously.
He stated, "It is hard for me to accept the fact that my time as an amateur boxer is done."
"Today is the day I announce my retirement. This day was not something I had envisioned.
