FRANK WARREN slammed Eddie Hearn, a rival promoter, after he claimed that Anthony Joshua was not interested in any world heavyweight title belts.
The 32-year old Brit fell short of his goal to be a three-time champion, as Oleksandr Uzyk defeated him in a split decision in Saudi Arabia.
Joshua failed against Usyk to reclaim WBA, IBF and WBO titles on Saturday night
Warren refuted Hearn’s claim that Joshua doesn’t care about belts
Joshua was furious at losing and threw Usyk’s Ring magazine, WBA titles, and WBA titles out the ring when the results were read.
Joshua has fought 12 times in his last 12 fights for the world heavyweight title. This streak dates back to April 2016, when Joshua beat Charles Martin to win the IBF crown.
After two losses to Usyk, he now plans to fight in a non-title bout.
Hearn, AJ's promoter, claimed that the belts had become a burden and that he would be happier if they were gone.
He said to iFL TV, "He's held onto those belts for a while, and those governing body have charged him a lot and placed a lot more mandates on him.
"I believe he has lost a lot faith in the system, and I think that he stopped being interested in fighting for belts.
"I believe he wants to be challenged and have fun."
Warren, who supports Tyson Fury has refuted Hearn’s comments, claiming that AJ and his team were always interested in the belts.
He stated that they were obviously interested in the belts. But, what bulls**t? It's bulls**t.
He was very emotional. Joshua seemed a little embarrassed by what had happened in the ring. He'd lost his fight.
"He fought more well and showed more heart in his second fight than in the first. Only you can do your best. Be proud of what you did.
"He was there with a man who has better skills and is a better fighter."
Fury looks poised to fight Usyk in the ring for the undisputed title at year's end.
Hearn believes it might be a relief that AJ has lost his world title belts
