After eight rounds, the star beat the former UFC champion by a split decision

Paul posted on Twitter just hours after defeating Woodley to announce that he was taking his gloves off.

YouTuber wrote simply: "Updated Status: Retired Boxer."

After a split decision by the judges, Paul won his fourth professional fight early Monday morning.

After three rounds of intense fighting, Woodley won the fourth round and took the initiative.

The eight rounds were over and Paul was declared the winner by the judges.

Paul, despite his win, was hurt in the fourth round.

With just a minute remaining, the 39-year old stepped in to help and began swinging towards his opponent.

Woodley, who was the shorter of both men, rammed a large right hook into Paul’s head.

Paul, the much-maligned Paul, was shocked and fell back into the ropes. He struggled to stay upright. Woodley, thankfully for him decided to wave his arms around to get the crowd moving instead of landing another punch.

Paul was able to take a deep breath and recover in time to finish the round.

As the event unfolded, viewers took to Twitter to complain about the riggedness of the match.

One fan wrote, "No one can tell you that this isn’t fixed." Woodley can't throw, but he could still end it at any moment.

Another comment: "Got the feeling Woodley wasn't going to knock him out." This is the end of the game. We are keeping our fingers crossed for the [Tommy] Fury battle, as that's an entirely different game.

Another tweeted, "This is such frustrating fight. Woodley walked him down and then stood in front of him, not throwing a punch. This must be fixed.

PAYCHECK

Paul claimed that he won the match, regardless of whether it was faked or real. He scored a PS72m paycheck.

On Monday, the social media superstar took to Instagram to thank himself for the substantial cash reward that he received following the match.

In an Instagram video he shared with his 17 million followers, he captioned the clip: "When you get 10% closer to becoming billionaire."

This fight was second in terms of pay-per-view sales behind Logan's match against Floyd Mayweather.

Paul claimed to have earned PS72m. However, there are reports that he could have made a lot less than that.

Sportingfree.com thought that the former YouTuber might have only made around $2m, including the pay-per-view income.
