Building Experience as a Wannabe Professional
YouTube sensation turned boxer, Jake Paul, has revealed that he may not make a profit from his upcoming fight against Andre August. Despite poor ticket sales for the bout set to take place on December 15 and airing live on DAZN, Paul is undeterred. He sees this fight as an opportunity to gain experience as a wannabe professional.
Putting Experience Over Money
Typically, Paul has faced retired MMA stars or fellow YouTubers in his boxing matches, always generating significant buzz. However, he now seems more concerned with his personal growth as a fighter rather than financial gain. In an interview with TMZ Sports, Paul admitted, "100 per cent I'm foregoing a lot of money. This is probably a break-even fight for me; I probably won't even make money on it. It's not about the money; it's really about staying sharp and the experience of challenging myself in the ring with these guys – he's a beast."
A Worth That's Hard to Keep Track Of
Paul claimed to have "lost count" of his net worth, with Forbes estimating it to be around £31.4 million. Earlier this year, he reportedly earned close to £24 million for his fight against Tommy Fury, which marked his first loss. Additionally, he made £30 million from three fights in 2021 against Ben Askren and Tyron Woodley, defeating Woodley twice.
MMA Ambitions
As if conquering the boxing world isn't enough, Paul also has his sights set on an MMA career. He hopes to have his first MMA fight by the end of 2024, further expanding his combat sports repertoire.
