Jake Paul, the YouTuber-turned prizefighter, has been called out by Viddal Riley for what could be "one of the biggest fights in boxing history." Paul recently improved his record to 8-1 by knocking out Andre August, his first victory against a professional boxer. After the fight, Paul expressed his openness to facing unbeaten English cruiserweight champion Riley in the future.
Riley responds with enthusiasm
Viddal Riley, who was once the coach of Paul's arch nemesis KSI, wasted no time in responding to Paul's challenge. Riley acknowledged the potential for the bout and said, "If that’s his aspirations, mine are the same and we both weigh 200lb, then yeah it’s inevitable that fight could happen down the line. It would be one of the biggest fights probably, in boxing history with the amount of back story, the amount of build-up. Everyone would tune in for that."
A possible fight in the near future
Riley, 26, doesn't see the fight happening in 2024 but leaves the door open for a potential showdown in the near future. Paul, 26, suffered his first defeat in February against Tommy Fury but has since bounced back with two wins. He expressed his interest in fighting Riley, saying, "For sure that can happen, that would be interesting and he has a name, a profile and that’s something that excites me for sure."
Paul's ultimate goal
Paul, who took the fight against August as a stepping stone towards challenging for a world championship, is focused on becoming the best in the world. He said, "I’m focused on being the best in the world and creating one of the greatest sports stories in the history of sports: being able to become a world champion from Disney Channel."
