The highly anticipated fight between Jake Paul and Andre August is set to take place tonight in Orlando, Florida.
Crawling into the Spotlight
In a bizarre move, Jake Paul, also known as The Maverick, chose to crawl onto the stage for his final face-off with Andre August.
Instead of walking like a normal person, Paul got down on his hands and knees and crawled towards his opponent before standing up to square off.
A Controversial Move
While Paul's crawling entrance may have been intended to intimidate his opponent, it received mixed reactions from fans.
Many argue that Paul's behavior is damaging to the sport of boxing and that the YouTube boxing hype is dying.
One fan commented, "Embarrassing for boxing. Thankfully, the YouTube boxing hype is dying."
Another added, "The gimmick needs to stop."
Some fans simply found Paul's entrance cringe-worthy, with one saying, "So cringe man!"
Paul's Trash Talk Continues
Outside of the ring, Jake Paul has been generating headlines with his ongoing trash talk, particularly targeting Conor McGregor.
Paul claimed that he has surpassed McGregor in fame and skill level, stating, "A fight between me and McGregor would be massive, entertaining and fun. I would beat his ass but he won't fight me. At this point, you can see how it went from me calling him out and that seeming crazy to me being bigger in the sport than he is and him knowing my skill level is greater than his in such a short amount of time. Life is crazy."
It remains to be seen how Jake Paul's unorthodox antics and continued trash talk will impact his boxing career and the future of YouTube boxing.
