JAKE PAUL is worried that a fight against Tommy Fury could end in tears after he backed Anthony Taylor, his sparring partner, to overcome the odds... 'Rocky!
Fury will face Taylor, an MMA fighter, on August 29. Paul will be the headliner against Tyron Woodley.
Jake Paul's Undercard: Tommy Fury vs Anthony Taylor
If everything goes according to plan, and both celebrities win, it opens the door for a pay-per view fight between them.
Paul, who sparred Taylor in the Bellator lightweight's previous training camps, has cautioned against counting Taylor out.
He also predicted that Sylvester Stallone would repeat the 1979 classic in which his Rocky character defeated Russian brute Ivan Drago.
Fury was told that he would not be making any plans for future fights.
Paul, 24 years old, told SunSport that he expected a Rocky-Drago upset.
"Anthony's a great fighter. He's a tough child and Tommy will have a very difficult fight against him coming up.
"And, I believe he underestimates his opponent. That's a horrible thing to do and Anthony should win.
"I want Tommy to beat him, and be like: "Yo Tommy, you can’t even beat my sparring partner. Who are you going to beat?”
"It's going be a great one one to see."
Fury, 22 years old, is now 6-0 in his professional career. He turned professional in 2018, to great fanfare thanks to Tyson, 32. Tyson is the WBC heavyweight champion.
His star power soared one year later when he appeared on Love Island, where he finished second with his girlfriend Molly-Mae Hague.
Molly-Mae (22 years old) has been also dragged into firing line by Taylor and Paul's viral videos.
The YouTuber, who is now 3-0 in his boxing career, has the potential to make a lot of money if Fury wins on his undercard.
The multimillionaire social media star admitted that money is not on his mind as he cheers Taylor on against his online opponent.
Paul stated that he doesn't need economic interests because he already has plenty of economics.
"There are many people who want to fight me so if Tommy Fury loses there are plenty of people and other fish in the ocean to choose from."
PAUL VS. FURY
Paul, 39, faces Woodley, an ex-UFC champion, in his biggest fight to date, even though he has won all of his fights via knockout.
He beat YouTuber AnEsonGib' and ex-NBA player Nate Robinson (37), and most recently, Ben Askren (37),
Paul will be back in Cleveland with his new network, American powerhouse Showtime.
CBS has also agreed to Fury to a 2-fight contract, leaving Paul the possibility of fighting him.
He stated, "It's still not clear yet that this will be the next stage.
"But, Tommy should be exposed to the US market and be exposed to my audience.
"I wanted him to shine before the world.
"Because no one has ever seen a Tommy Fury fight or bought a Tommy Fury pay per-view.
"This is his moment and it could set us up for a fight later on if we both do the things we are expected to.
"Tommy's 'expected to win', I'm 'expected to win', so if we both win, it builds that narrative for sure."
