Anderson Silva will face him in his next bout on October 29th in Arizona. He will fight at a 187lb catchweight.
Paul plans to move into the 175lb heavyweight division. He previously stated lofty goals of winning a world championship.
Conor McGregor (34), and Nate Diaz (37), have fought at 170lb during their UFC careers.
Paul, 25, said to Showtime that he is just beginning to lose weight in his boxing career.
"I will probably end up light-heavyweight at 175. That's exactly where I should be.
"I didn't lose that much weight in my other fights so I'm trying to get to a lighter weight, where I feel my best.
"And taking on different competitors at that weight class. Tommy Fury responded to my statement that I would be dropping down to 185.
"I believe he was afraid to fight me at slightly heavier weights, so I'll have the opportunity to compete on a different level.
"Nate Diaz is now in a lower body weight, Conor McGregor in a lower body weight. It makes perfect sense to me to go down."
Paul defeated his online opponent "AnEsonGib", 26 and Nate Robinson (38) in his two first professional bouts in 2020.
He defeated ex-UFC duo Tyron Woodley, 40 and Ben Askren, 38, in a rematch.
After pulling out of Tommy Fury (23), and Hasim Rahman Jr. (31), he was left without having to face a recognized boxer.
Silva, 47, is a UFC icon who has had four wins and one loss in the ring.
