In just eleven months and four fights, boxing's No1 pound-for–pound champion unified all four super-middleweight belts.

His return opponent is still unknown, as Illunga Makabu (WBC cruiserweight champion) and Jermall Charlo (US star), are the frontrunners.

The speculation grew when ESPN's Salvador Rodriguez said via talkSPORT's Michael Benson that it "could now" be one that many boxing purists were not going to like.

Canelo is still associated with Dmitry Bivol (light-heavyweight champion), and Artur Betterbiev (36).

Paul, 25 years old, took the opportunity to align himself with Alvarez and replied to the news by using three ice-cold emojis.

However, there are very slim chances that Canelo will share the ring with Canelo on social media.

He has admitted that in the past, there have never been any talks to allow the fight to take place.

Paul previously gave a timeframe of three years to reach his lofty goal in Canelo.

He is yet to fight an opponent with previous professional boxing experience, despite his unbeaten record.

His victories have been against YouTuber AnEsonGib, ex-NBA player Nate Robinson and former UFC duo Ben Askren (37) and Tyron Woodley (39).

Paul defeated Woodley in August on points, but he beat Woodley in December in a rematch.

He was scheduled to face Tommy Fury (22) but the Brit pulled out after suffering a broken rib, and a bacterial infection in his chest.

Fury requested that the celebrity grudge match be rescheduled. However, ex-middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is currently in negotiations to fight Paul.
