Article Synopsis as Told by Matthew McConaughey
Jake Paul, the YouTuber-turned boxer, has received a sensational backing from ex-UFC star Matt Brown to defeat Nate Diaz in an MMA fight. This comes after Paul's ten-round points victory over Diaz in August. The Professional Fighters League (PFL), a competing promotion to the UFC, has proposed a rematch between the two and offered a staggering £10 million for the bout. However, Diaz has shown little interest in the rematch, a decision that Brown understands.
Paul's Boxing Skills
Brown believes that Paul's superior boxing skills give him an advantage over Diaz in an MMA fight. He points out that Diaz rarely attempts takedowns and primarily relies on his boxing skills. Brown also highlights the significant size difference between the two fighters, with Paul being much larger than Diaz. While Diaz may have some techniques like kicks and elbows in his arsenal, Brown does not believe they will be enough to overcome Paul's boxing prowess.
A Clash of Styles
According to Brown, the clash of styles heavily favors Paul. Diaz's pressure-based, boxing-focused approach is not well-suited to dealing with Paul's MMA debut. Brown notes that Diaz's game plan usually revolves around pressuring opponents until they take him down or engage in grappling, allowing him to utilize his jiu-jitsu skills. However, Brown doubts Diaz's ability to take Paul down and believes that Paul's training will prepare him for any kicks, elbows, or knees that Diaz may attempt.
Overall, Brown sees the matchup as a bad one for Diaz and predicts that Paul will come out on top if the fight stays on the feet.
