JAKE PAUL claims to have memory loss less that two years into his professional boxing career.
Paul, a YouTuber who turned into a boxer, has only been a professional for 23 months. He claims that the fights and sparring he took have made worse his brain trauma from playing American football.
Jake Paul has been a boxing pro for less than 2 years
.
Graham Bensinger was told by The Problem Child that Graham Bensinger had told him: "I had my brain scanned right prior to I started boxing, and the doctor said there's a lack of blood flow due to the concussions from football to certain parts of my brain.
"One of them is the frontallobe, which I believe is partially responsible for memory. It was worse than my first year boxing.
After seeing the extent of his brain damage, Paul's doctor advised him to stop boxing.
He said, "The doctors advise that you don't engage in this sport."
"That's all they can advice as a doctor. I think it was affecting my at a rapid rate because it was never easy.
"I was always around people who were better than I until I began to gradually get to their level."
Paul, 24 years old, also admitted that his memory isn't as sharp as it used to be.
He stated, "You are doing something that is harmful to your long-term health.
"It's something I notice in conversations with my friends and girlfriends, not being able to recall something that happened a few days ago.
"Sometimes, in my speech there's like every 100th to 200th word I'll make a mistake or like slur which I haven't done before."
Paul began using psychedelic drugs in an effort to counter the effects of CTE (chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy).
He stated that he had spoken to a lot of people about the issue and that there is new science and research to fight it. This includes things like psychedelics or toad.
Later, he added that while it sounds insane, it can increase neural activity and open up new paths. I have experimented with it and it has definitely helped.
Paul is currently preparing for a rematch against former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Whiteley, who he will face in Tampa this weekend.
The former Disney star lost to The Chosen One in August via split decision. However, he plans to win again.
