JAKE PAUL was urged not to fight Hasim Rahman Jr. due to his lack experience.
The YouTuber will face off against his former sparring partner at Madison Square Garden next year.
Jake Paul will be battling Hasim Rahman Jr. on August 6
Rahman Jr. has a lot more fights than YouTuber Paul
BJ Flores, Paul's coach, has confirmed that the NYSAC did not want to sanction the fight
Rahman Jr, the son of former heavyweight champion Hasim Sr, will be Paul's first encounter with a professional boxer during his brief tenure as pro.
Before sanctioning the bout, Rahman had a long amateur career in which he participated in over 100 amateur fights.
BJ Flores was Paul's coach and told Boxing Scene that the New York State athletic commission had advised against Paul.
They said Rahman was too skilled. Rahman fought over 100 amateur bouts, and he has 13 professional fights. He's also used to fighting larger guys.
"He was raised around boxing, and he boxed himself in amateur tournaments."
Rahman Jr., 31 suffered a fifth round TKO loss to James Morrison in his final fight in April.
Flores says Gold Blooded will not be an easy fight for Paul, a boxing novice who has only been to the ring six times.
He stated that Rahman beat Kenzie Morrison, a 20-0 undefeated heavyweight, in 4 rounds.
"It was 40-36 in all three scorecards. This is a dangerous fight.
Rahman Jr. is enjoying the chance to silence Paul and bring Paul back to earth with a bang.
According to the 31-year old, "He's going to get seriously hurt, he will get seriously injured in this fight."
"I'm going to hurt this man, and all the things he's been saying are just fuel to that fire.
"He chose the wrong person, and I told him that I would punish him on August 6th.
He is a fraud. He doesn't know what he's talking about and he doesn't know what his words are. He doesn't seem to know how he managed to get people to tell his what to say, but I do not think so.
"How are you going to say that you have the promotion, but that you don't give me anything in return?"
"What, I'm supposed help you and do skits along with you?"
"I don't like that. I don't like any of that. I'm here to do what I have to, which is to seperate his consciousness from mine. That's it for Aug 6.
