Joe Rogan, UFC commentator, has refuted claims that Jake Paul's knockout against Tyron Woodley was fake.
Paul, a YouTuber and boxer turned to UFC welterweight champion, was flatlined in the sixth round during their Tampa fight last year. This prompted a lot of viewers to claim that the fight had been fixed.
In their rematch last year, Jake Paul flatlined Tyron Whiteley
.
Rogan, a long-time boxing fan, was amused by the idea of Paul's viral one punch KO of The Chosen One as 'fake'. He insists that the stoppage was a demonstration of former Disney star's skill.
He said that Paul has been stating on a podcast episode, "He's already suffering from slurring words. And loss of memory."
"It doesn't take much if you spar a lot...
He is still f***ing great. People want to pretend that he's not, but he's a YouTube guy.
"But the way he knocked Tyron Woodley out, that's f***ing skilled.
"He has real f***ing power.
"Meanwhile the f***ing casuals think it is fake. That's what you saw? It's absurd."
Din Thomas, Woodley's longtime coach, was also puzzled by these claims. He said during an appearance on Sirius XM Radio that he laughed at the whole idea.
"Because I was in his camp, it was very serious.
"It was serious like Tyron really wanted to win this fight back, he really wanted it and it was a serious matter.
"Now, if it were a dive, they should have told me because I wouldn’t have come to the party and taken the night off."
"I thought I'd like to party but that wasn’t the case." It was a legitimate, legal fight.
Paul's win over Woodley pushed his professional boxing record up to a perfect 5.05.
