JOHN FURY has urged Anthony Joshua not to refuse a step-aside invitation to let son Tyson face Oleksandr Uzyk.
AJ is set to rematch the undefeated Usyk in the first half of next year, but has considered the possibility of Fury facing AJ in an undisputed bout.
Anthony Joshua will be rematching Oleksandr Usyk
to face the undefeated Ukrainian.
Eddie Hearn, Joshua's promoter, recently said it would cost around PS40million to cancel Joshua's match with the slick Southpaw. John believes he should accept.
57-year old said to iFL TV: "It is a business, boxing.
I believe AJ is determined to fight Usyk. That's why he asked for PS40million - and I don’t blame him - but I’d like PS70 million!
"AJ wants revenge on his loss, and he can bounceback - he has proven it.
"If someone is big enough to pay it, let them!
"I think AJ would love to fight Usyk. But if he can make a reasonable offer - to do nothing – he could take it and have a shot at the winner.
"But for AJ, it's not all about the money. It's a matter of pride. It's not my fault.
Although preliminary talks have been held for Joshua's resignation, Matchroom Boxing chief Hearn still has not approached the Brit with an offer.
He told The DAZN Boxing Show: "I spoke with him yesterday - there have been some approaches about this."
"No deep conversations, just thoughts about the concept.
"The idea is that Fury and Usyk will fight for undisputed, and you will fight the winner.
"Yesterday Anthony said that to me, "Just to warn you, regarding the step-aside. It's against all I believe in. All I want to do is fight Oleksandr Uzyk.
"I trust that you will find a plan that not only offers me a great financial package but also allows me to get to know a new trainer before I enter a big fight for large amounts of money later in the year. If that sounds right for me, let me know.
"But he said that he was adamant, "When you do that, I'm putting you under great threat because I don’t want you to do it. '"
AJ was defeated by Usyk by a narrow margin in September's showdown at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
He also plans to make their next bout an all-out battle if he does not want to step aside.
He said to iFL TV, "I have one thing in mind. That's war. That's murder. Let's go out and hurt that guy."
"Take his soul until he is ready to give up. I know that boxing is all about this.
"You should hit people repeatedly, and keep applying pressure until they realize you're not going anywhere.
"With the gameplan, that's all that I have at the moment, that one track. Stay on track, take this guy places he doesn’t want to."
