JOHN FURY has urged Anthony Joshua that his son Tyson train him ahead of the rematch against Oleksandr Usyk.
The Gypsy King reclaimed the WBC heavyweight title by knocking out Deontay Wilder in the 11th round last month. This was just two weeks after AJ lost a unanimous verdict to Oleksandr Uzyk.
Joshua was outboxed in September by Usyk at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
Tyson later stated that he will train Joshua in his rematch against the Ukrainian. AJ insists that he is open to this offer.
AJ said last month to iFL TV, "Yeah beautiful mate," when he was asked about Tyson's offer of a training program. He doesn't have to pay any money. I don't know if it's a bid for a few quid.
"He is more than welcome to visit the doors. He can even spar with us. It's important that I have a coach who has lived it and breathed it so it's perfect.
"That'll make it the easiest way to get him into the ring. Eddie [Hearn] and I will set up a camera. We'll also have a few cameras to run it on Facebook or YouTube.
Tyson's father John discovered Joshua had accepted the training offer from his son and he told BT Sport: “Isn’t that nice?" It's not a joke, it's truly heart-warming.
Let me tell you, AJ's a smart guy. He's a businessman. He isn't a fool and knows exactly where he got wrong. I can tell you now, AJ that all the men in America cannot help you. Tyson can help you.
"Why not keep them in Britain?" Who knows where it might lead them? Tyson could train anyone and they would be great.
"British people must stick together. No matter your culture, no matter where you are from, be together and help each other.
I believe that AJ, with the right people around him, can win. He's a big boy, and he has a lot of boxing skills. I've said it before.
He only needs a dog in his stomach, a fire, and the ability to fight. Learn how to fight dogs, that's all you have to do. He can't be taught that by the other guys.
He thanked Joshua for his return and beating Ruiz in the rematch.
John said, "He has shown that he can come back to win titles."
"For my money he's not looking for the backdoor [easy way out]. He could have taken the back door with Klitschko during the fifth round but he didn’t.
He was beaten up by Ruiz, but he didn’t go to the back door. He was knocked out and was stopped on his feet. He couldn't fight anymore. He didn't fall to the ground and then stay there, he stood up. He now has something to do.
He said that Tyson could make Joshua a different fighter', and refused to rule out AJ winning after a camp with the WBC champion.
Tyson will now face Dillian Whyte, a fellow Brit, as he awaits for a rematch against Usyk-Joshua II.
Both heavyweight dust-ups will take place in March/April 2022.
