John Fury's Surprising Showdown

John Fury, father of WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, is still determined to have a fight with boxing legend Mike Tyson, despite naming his son after him. The outspoken coach, who admires Tyson greatly, wants to share the ring with the former undisputed heavyweight champ, even offering to fight him on the undercard.

Age and Physical Differences

In terms of age, Tyson has the advantage as he celebrated his 57th birthday in June, while John turned 59 in May. However, when it comes to physical attributes, John has the upper hand. Standing at 6'3, he towers over Tyson's 5'10 height. John also has a four-inch reach advantage, with his limbs extending 75 inches compared to Tyson's 71 inches. Though their current weights are unknown, Tyson weighed in at 220.4lbs for his last fight.

Records Speak Volumes

The difference in experience between the two fighters is staggering. John Fury only had 13 professional bouts in his career, earning a mere £4000. On the other hand, Tyson had an impressive 58 fights, with 44 brutal knockouts to his name. Tyson also has the advantage of having fought more recently, having faced Roy Jones Jr in an exhibition match in November 2020. John, on the other hand, hasn't entered the ring since his knockout loss to Steve Garber in 1995.

While John Fury holds Mike Tyson in high regard, it seems unlikely that their records should be mentioned in the same breath.
