Josh Taylor celebrates victory over Jack Catterall in February
Taylor retained his super-lightweight belts despite losing his WBA title. This opens the door to a rematch against Catterall.
Although the Prestonpans-based boxer insists he won, he is willing to fight his opponent again in an effort to settle the matter.
Taylor was defeated in the eighth round of the February fight. Taylor has since admitted that he wasn’t at his best during the fight.
Bob Arum, a legendary promoter, agreed to the agreement but insists that Taylor was rightfully convicted.
There were many big names in the sport that disagreed with the decision, such as Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua and Ben Shalom. Shalom called for an investigation and expressed embarrassment at the promotion of the event.
The British Boxing Board of Control later confirmed that they were investigating the fight.
The only result so far has been to degrade Ian John-Lewis, one of the judges.
Taylor stated in an interview with talkSPORT that he was completely illiterate but got the right result.
"I felt he was very negative and on the back foot. He held too much. I believe he should have had more than one point removed from him for excessive holding. It's over. It was my decision.
"People insinuated that there was corruption and said this and that, and then they paid the judges - which is completely absurd.
"People who are respected in the sport should not be saying such things."
Taylor was subject to months of abuse via social media and had to confront fight fans who were also attacking him and his family.
He stated that Jack was rightly convicted by many fans, which is fine. Both of us went in there and fought for 12 rounds.
"But the personal attacks against myself and my family, especially my family, are disgusting and uncalled-for."
