JOSH WARRINGTON is going to be thinking about his next move, after the heartbreak of the weekend.
After a head-to-head clash, the Mexican caused his revenge attempt against Leeds boxer Mauricio Lara to be cut short.
Josh Warrington's chance at revenge against Mauricio Lara was halted when heads clashed, which led to a horror attack on the Mexicans
The fight was stopped in the second round. It was scored as a technical draw.
Warrington was much more like himself in his early days than he was six months ago when Lara KO'd him.
Lara is now in need of months of healing, and Warrington just out the first gear after training camp. All eyes will be on Warrington's next move.
SunSport lists five possible opponents for the Yorkshireman.
KID GALAHAD
Although it might not be the fight Warrington is looking for, Galahad is the proud owner Warrington's IBF featherweight world championship.
Galahad, after witnessing Warrington's revenge mission come to an abrupt halt in tears, spoke on Sky Sports and said he would give Warrington another chance at the belt.
That could be due to the fact that Warrington defeated him in a close affair in June 2019 on points.
This was messy and blundering scrap, which fans were not likely to be happy with. Warrington's army would nevertheless turn out in force.
WINNER OF SHAKUR STEVENSON VS JAMEL HERRING
Warrington always stated that he wanted to fight in America, but the time is not yet right.
He had been in negotiations to fight US prodigy Shakur Stephenson but it never happened.
Stevenson will face Jamel Herring, WBO super-featherweight champion in October. Warrington could also be a potential angler for the winner.
The Brit has been criticized for not being able to punch at featherweight. It is possible that it would be Mission Impossible to step up and fight one of these fighters.
Herring ended Warrington’s old foe Carl Frampton’s career. Could he do it the same for Josh?
LEO SANTA CRUZ
Santa Cruz, the four-division world champion at age 33, is approaching the end of his career but remains a formidable opponent.
He was part of two barnstormers against Northern Irish hero Frampton, a man Warrington won a stunning unanimous point win against.
Santa Cruz is still a world champion. He lost to Gervonta, but it was a catchweight bout so he kept his WBA belt.
The Mexican draws large crowds in the US, where Warrington would like to go.
EMANUEL NAVARETTE
The 26-year old Mexican has had seven KO wins in his eight last fights.
Navarette has lost only once to Daniel Argueta in his professional career - it was 2012 on points.
He is currently the WBO featherweight world champion - Mexican fans will be flocking to support him.
MAURICIO LARA
The man who will be ending the trilogy in Lara would be the obvious next opponent.
Warrington had a good start against the powerful Mexicans, but it was still early.
Lara was still moving Leeds Warrior around in the ring when he connected using hooks and jabs.
Warrington is VERY determined to exact revenge on the 23-year-old, but his promoter insists that Warrington has 'other options' after this latest disappointment.
