British boxer Joshua Buatsi reveals that he had the opportunity to sign with boxing legend Floyd Mayweather, but he chose to prioritize his education instead.
The Offer
After winning a bronze medal for Team GB in the 2016 Olympics, Mayweather was impressed with Buatsi's performances and made him a lucrative offer. However, Buatsi, who had been juggling his amateur boxing career with his studies at St Mary's University, turned down the opportunity.
Education First
Buatsi had just one year left to complete his university degree when Mayweather approached him. Instead of immediately turning professional and moving to the US, Buatsi wanted to make his mark in England and finish his degree. He explained, "I knew that I didn't want to be in the States that early in my career... I didn't want to waste [my degree]." Buatsi later graduated with a 2:1 degree in Management with Sports Science.
Rising Star
Since turning pro in 2017, Buatsi has compiled an impressive record of 17-0. He is now preparing for his upcoming fight against his friend Dan Azeez at the O2 Arena in London on October 21. The winner of this London derby will be next in line for the WBA title held by Dmitry Bivol.

The Biggest Fight Yet
Buatsi considers his upcoming fight against Azeez to be the biggest of his career so far. He acknowledges that his friend is in great form and he needs to be at his best to secure the victory. Buatsi's fight against Azeez can be watched live on Sky Sports.
