DEONTAY WILDER must put aside his friendships if he wants to defeat Tyson Fury.
Legendary trainer Harold Knight believes that Wilder's friend Malik Scott could be Wilder's head coach.
Deontay Wilder knocked Malik Scott back
They teamed up earlier in the year to prepare for Fury's highly anticipated trilogy bout.
Knight, who has coached Scott and worked with Lennox Lewis and Dillian Whyte, warned Wilder to be businesslike before Saturday's showdown.
Knight said to MyBettingSites, "From experience and having been around Malik for many years, it's a fine balance between friendship and business.
"If Malik can make it business and not friendship with Wilder, then I believe they can achieve some great things.
"This is business. This is high stakes boxing. This is world championship boxing. Legacy is at stake.
BETTING SPECIAL GET 30/1 ON FURY OR 50/1 ON WILDER FOR HEAVYWEIGHT BOXING CLASH"If you're a friend to the guy you train, tell him what you want to hear and not what he needs.
It doesn't work that way. You would like to go to training camp and tell your fellow soldiers, "I like you and I respect you, but I won't tell you what to do."
"This is what Malik should have done. You don't want fanboys to be around, but you want people who will take you to the next level.
Wilder was able to fight Scott in 2014, and was eager to make their friendship work after dismissing Mark Breland from his last meeting with Fury.
The 35-year old enters the Las Vegas fight having a record of just one draw and a loss against the Gypsy King. Knight warned him not to see Scott as his salvation.
He said, "Malik hasn’t been in the corner previously as head trainer. But you have to get started somewhere."
"When you reach this level of world championship, with your legacy at stake, it is crucial to how you react in the corner: What you say to your guy when he loses or wins.
"If you lose this, you're done. So you want to be able pull off this fight."
