Lomachenko's team is 'trying' to remove him from Ukraine's front line in order for him to fight against Kambosos Jr.

VASILY LOMACHENKO's crew hopes to remove him from the frontlines in the war in Ukraine so he is able to prepare for a showdown against George Kambosos Jr.

Last month, the proud Ukrainian joined his countryman Oleksandr Uzyk and the Klitschko brothers Vitali and Wladimir in taking up arms against the invading Russians.

Team Loma is working to get him out of country so that he can compete with Kambosos in the unified lightweight titles.

ESPN claims that the two-time Olympic gold medallist has reached an agreement to face the Aussie in Melbourne, June 5.

Lomachenko's group will have to work hard to remove him from the country. Martial law dictates that all able-bodied men aged 18-60 must remain in the country and help the nation defend against Russia.

The decree does not apply to celebrities and sportsmen, though Lomachenko was willing to accept the order before it was issued.

Last month, photos released shortly after the Russian invasion began revealed that the 34-year old was carrying an M16 assault rifle.

Lomachenko, a former pound-for-pound king, has enlisted in Belgorod-Dniester Terror Defence Battalion in order to defend his hometown.

After sharing a plea for peace with his 2.1 million Instagram followers, he enlisted in the battalion.

A portion of his post said: "A prayer to the peace of all the world and the awakening of the peoples on the earth."

Loma's friend and unified heavyweight champion Usyk was quick to join the fight against Vladimir Putin's army.
