Lopez says that Conor McGregor would beat Jake Paul in the boxing ring, but Notorious should target Charles Oliveira UFC fight.

CONOR MCGREGOR would defeat Jake Paul in a boxing match. This is what Fernand Lopez, a renowned MMA coach believes.

Paul, a YouTuber and boxer, has been aiming for a showdown with UFC's poster child for 16 months.

McGregor entertained the idea of facing Lopez inside the ring. Lopez believes that The Notorious would win if they were in the same weight category.

Genting Casino was told by the Cameroonian: "If you take out weight, Jake Paul would lose Conor McGregor."

Conor is a boxer, he trains boxing and his sparring style is more boxing than MMA.

"He's fought [Floyd] Mayweather, and he didn't look bad. He's proven already that he isn't that bad.

McGregor, 33 years old, is now in the final stages in recovering from the terrible broken leg that he sustained in his fight with Dustin Pourier last July.

The Irishman is positive of advancing straight to a title fight against Justin Gaethje, the winner of May’s lightweight contest between champion Charles Oliveira.

Lopez's assessment of Lopez's chances against the pair is drastically different.

He stated that McGregor would be a great opponent if he could defeat Charles Oliveira. Oliveria, at the very least, is a technical fighter and not a brawler.

"So if Conor McGregor can return to his vintage Conor McGregor – which is hit and miss and manages the distance - he might give Charles Oliveria an exciting fight on the feet due to timing and precision, Conor might be able win that fight.

"He has a chance to win, but not a good one, but a chance."

"I love Conor and would pray for him to win the fight. But, Oliveira is my choice.

"But Justin Gaethje, that would be a brawl. It would be a tough fight.

"And I don’t think Conor will be motivated for the difficult fight. Justin Gaethje is a tough opponent and I don't believe he has the motivation to fight.

"The real Conor, not the vintage Conor. What I see on paper is that if he goes into battle with Gaetje in the final, he will not give up. Justin doesn't give up. In the end you will have the death of him. So I don't know how I'd win that fight."

McGregor, a fan favorite, revealed last month that he plans to return to the Octagon in the summer. However Dana White, UFC president, expects him to return to action in the fall.
