Lecce Forced to Sell Danish Full-Back
Manchester United reportedly gave Lecce an ultimatum when they made a move for Patrick Dorgu last month. The Italian club had intended to keep the 20-year-old full-back until the summer.
Pressure from Red Devils
United's persistence in acquiring Dorgu led to Lecce feeling they had no choice but to sell. The Red Devils threatened to walk away permanently if a deal wasn't reached in the winter transfer window.
Unprecedented Move
Despite Lecce's initial reluctance to sell, an agreement was eventually reached for a fee of £29.4 million. Dorgu was introduced to the Old Trafford crowd on Sunday following the transfer.
President's Displeasure
Lecce president Saverio Sticchi Damiani expressed dissatisfaction with how United conducted the negotiations, stating that the English club applied pressure with a "now or never" ultimatum.
