LEGENDARY boxer Manny Pacquiao contemplates retiring to exact revenge against Yordenis Urgas.
Pacquiao was defeated by Ugas, the defending WBA Super welterweight champion. The result was unanimous at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on August 21.
Ugas defeated Pacquiao, and retained his WBA Super welterweight title
Ugas was not Pacquiao’s first scheduled opponent. Errol Spence Jr. was and the WBC/IBF unified titles were up in grabs.
The unbeaten American pulled out due to an eye injury. Ugas, 35, was already scheduled to appear on the undercard and replaced Spence with 11 days notice.
This gave Pacquiao a chance to regain the belt he had lost during the coronavirus epidemic.
Due to Pacquiao's absence, Ugas was promoted from secondary 'Regular champion' to the full version.
PacMan lost the fight, raising questions about his future status within boxing.
Pacquiao claims Ugas, despite his loss, was one of his "easiest adversaries" during his 72-fight career.
The Athletic quoted PacMan as saying that he would think about it, "I can't believe one the most difficult opponents I've ever faced did this."
He also said that Ugas should have been able outmanoeuvre him because of his one-dimensional style.
Pacquiao said that his legs stopped working after Pacquiao told him.
He said, "Ugas was one of my most difficult opponents throughout my career."
"He only had one style and I should have been able to move away easily... You've seen my moves in my fights before.
"I couldn’t move in that fight." My legs just - stopped."
Pacquiao's recent comments may suggest that he's not ready to give up on the gloves yet.
