MIKE TYSON said it would be a great honor to train Anthony Joshua.
Since his defeat to Oleksandr Uzyk in September, the Brit has been hard at work in the USA.
Mike Tyson was present at Canelo’s historic win last night
Eddie Hearn, his promoter, bumped into Iron Mike at Canelo alvarez's win over Caleb Plant last night in Las Vegas.
During the exchange, ES News reporter brought up the possibility of Tyson training Joshua to prepare for his rematch against Usyk.
Reporter Elie Seeckbach asked Tyson, "Mike? You know what I told [Hearn] yesterday?"
"I suggested that you coach Joshua, and he agreed. He liked the idea."
Hearn joked: "Of course. He's been there and he's seen all of it.
As Tyson laughed and clapped along to the music, Hearn said: "No sparring!"
Tyson was then asked what it would feel like to be with Joshua at the gym after the Matchroom boss left.
He said, "That would be an honor."
"Not to fight but to help one another - that would be awesome.
"He has so many potential, he shouldn't be depressed.
"Him and Deontay Wilder should not get discouraged and give up on the rest of the world."
Hearn spoke to Boxing News to explain the thinking behind AJ's recent trips in the States.
He stated that he was involved in many of the meetings here (in the States).
They weren't interviewing anyone, they were simply watching, learning, and looking around. It was a good experience for him. I believe he will be able to share his honest thoughts with you.
"He has been living in Sheffield [11] years. He's god. You're going to be treated like a dog when you're God. Sometimes that's what you need. Although he works extremely hard, everyone looks at him and says, "You are God."
It is very different when you come to an American gym. It is draining for him in the UK. It would really help him to feel more refreshed out here, and this is the best place to base himself."
Tyson Fury has offered Joshua to train him in preparation for his Usyk rematch.
AJ said that he was up for it... unless Gypsy King wants to make money from him.
