Behind Bars Deals
Former boxing champion Mike Tyson recently disclosed that he left prison $375 million richer, thanks to lucrative deals he signed while behind bars. Tyson was incarcerated in 1992 after being convicted of rape and spent three years at the Indiana Youth Center.
Iron Mike's Wealth Transformation
Tyson, who had $15 million when he entered prison, claimed that upon his release, he had amassed $300-400 million, crediting legendary promoter Don King for his financial success during his time in prison. With King's assistance, Tyson quickly rose to become the heavyweight world champion within a year of his release.
Financial Ups and Downs
Despite his initial financial success post-prison, Tyson faced setbacks after defeats to Evander Holyfield and Lennox Lewis. By 2003, he had filed for bankruptcy after squandering $250 million. His career ultimately came to an end in 2005 following losses to Danny Williams and Kevin McBride.
Tyson's Financial Comeback
However, Tyson managed to regain his wealth in retirement, partially due to his successful cannabis business. The former boxing star has found solace in his entrepreneurial ventures, solidifying his financial standing once again.
