Tyson's Explosive Rise to Stardom
Mike Tyson's scintillating run to becoming the youngest-ever heavyweight champion is still to this day one of the greatest in the history of boxing. The New Yorker blew through all comers with his ferocity and blistering speed, the likes of which hadn't been seen at the time.
Trainer Teddy Atlas Speaks Out
Tyson's former trainer Teddy Atlas believes that out of the 58 professional bouts Tyson participated in, only five were real fights. According to Atlas, Tyson's talent and physical ability were so superior that his opponents never truly tested him.

The "Real" Fights
Atlas claims that Tyson's losses, which came at the hands of Buster Douglas, Evander Holyfield, Lennox Lewis, and Danny Williams, were the only true fights of his Hall-of-Fame career. He argues that a fight is only a fight when there is resistance and something to overcome, and Tyson failed in all five of these instances.
A Shell of His Former Self
Towards the end of his career, Tyson suffered defeats to Brit Danny Williams and journeyman Kevin McBride. Tyson himself admitted that the final fight of his career was nothing more than a payday. However, he made a sensational return to the ring in November 2020 for an exhibition bout with Roy Jones Jr.

Tyson's Exhibition Comeback
In his exhibition match against Roy Jones Jr., Tyson surprised fight fans worldwide with a stellar display, showing flashes of his old self. While there have been hints of more exhibitions, Tyson has not made any concrete plans to return to competitive boxing.
