Moment Berlanga tries to BITE opponent Angulo’s ear and then admits after fight ‘I was about to do a Mike Tyson on him’

EDGAR BERLANGA admitted that he attempted to BITE Alexis Angulo’s ear at Madison Square Garden's Hulu Theatre last evening.

Angulo was defeated by the American in a unanimous decision. He now has a 20-0 record within the squared circle.

The controversial incident in round 7 that the referee missed will forever be associated with Berlanga's victory as super middleweight.

Amazingly, the 25-year old appeared to bite Angulo's ears during the battle... which he later admitted.

ESPN reported that he said: "He was throwing his elbows. He was just about to do a Mike Tyson.

"He just kept pushing it out and throwing his elbows." "I didn't want my hair cut."

While Tyson was disqualified from his famous bite on Evander Holyfield's head, Berlanga was able to escape with the incident.

He probably avoided punishment because he failed to connect with Angulo’s ear. Instead, he made contact with his opponent's shoulder more.

Berlanga's antics were not enough to impress the world of combat sports.

Lou DiBella, the promoter of this contest, wrote on Twitter that "if you bite your opponent as a rabid animal you should be disqualified."

Trainer Teddy Atlas said, "Berlanga’s record is better than his fighting." "I'm returning to UFC fights."

Caleb Truax, a former super middleweight champion, said: "I scored that 76-74 Berlanga... both lost 20 points because they were awful."

Truax added that Berlanga sucked just a bit less than Angulo ..."

Terence Crawford thought it was funny and tweeted: "Lol, he tried to bite me
