Nelson warns David Haye, 40, about Tyson Fury fighting and points out Holyfield's disastrous return

JOHNNY NELSON believes David Haye should pay attention to Evander Holyfield’s shocking ring return, before committing himself to fighting Tyson Fury.

According to the boxing pundit, Holyfield's loss in the first round to UFC ace Vitor Bellfort should be a warning sign for Brits.

Nelson believes Evander Hollyfield was too successful in his fight against Vitor Belfort.

Haye, 40, is a former Cruiserweight champion and WBA heavyweight title-holder. He has been keenly seeking a clash against Fury.

The London-born boxer was buoyed by the win on points.

After the win Haye decided to insult the Gypsy King, saying "I know his Kryptonite. I know what he cannot handle."

Nelson, Sky Boxing Guru, has questioned Hayes motives for wanting to face the undefeated WBC champion.

Sky Sports' Nelson, 54, said that David calling out Tyson Fury has made headlines and made people talk about it.

"How serious can it be? I don't know. Fighters are always asking "What if?"

"David, at 40 years old, looks amazing. I believe he has had a good rest and that he is now in a good mental state.

He's a very Zen person, so he has probably put a lot into perspective in regards to his future and what it is that he wants to do in boxing.

"You have to take a look at David's two last performances and see how he performed.

"The rest would've done him a lot of good, and that fight against Fournier was two friends having a spar. But David knows what he can do.

"I believe the reality of working hard at camp for a few weeks could make him realize how much he has really bitten off.

"But perhaps he has that spark, that energy, and that fire inside him for a fight against Tyson Fury?"

"Coming back and fighting Tyson Fury, If he's serious about it, it's only for that fight. It's not for a future career."

Haye, who has a fight record of 26 knockouts, was forced to withdraw twice from Fury's arranged fights.

After Haye's shoulder operation in 2013, plans for a battle between Haye, the two-time heavyweight champion, were scrapped.

Nelson shared his thoughts after Holyfield's exhibition match with Belfort, an ex-UFC champ, on the same bill that Hayes' fight with Fournier.

Concerns for the 58-year-old former world heavyweight champion were compounded by Belfort's brutal defeat in round one. Belfort is 14 years older.

Nelson said, "We saw Evander Hollyfield and we all got lost with the nostalgia of what Evander used be able to do."

"Then reality hit, he is a 58 year-old man who clearly does not have punch resistance.

"He looked the part but that's all.

"Evander made a similar mistake to most ex-fighters when he believed, "I can do it."

"Is David Haye on the same stage with Holyfield?" I don't think so.

"Holyfield was gone long enough from the sport for people to forget his last fights and recall his glory days.

"But, you have to be realistic with your self and say, "Right, can this really happen?"

David Haye isn't making a comeback in the ring as a fighter. He said, "I want to fight Tyson Fury."

"If he says he wants to return and take over the heavyweight division, you would reply, "Come on David."
