OLEKSANDRUSYK wept after being declared the winner against Anthony Joshua. His Prime Minister later congratulated him.
The Ukrainian performed a masterclass to dethrone AJ, the WBA, IBF, and WBO heavyweight titles.
In defeat to Oleksandr Uzyk, Anthony Joshua
Many were afraid to be ringside in a robbery, but they breathed a sigh relief when Usyk was awarded the rightful title.
It seemed that the super southpaw was now the champion.
Joshua ran out of the ring after 12 rounds and was left in tears by Usyk.
Volodymyr Zelensky, the Ukrainian PM, tweeted: "Ukraine returned its WBA, IBF and IBO championship titles – again, as it should be.
"Thank you!" "Well done Champion!"
Joshua, 31, has a contract that includes a rematch clause, similar to what he did against Andy Ruiz Jr., 32, in June 2019.
Six months later, he redeemed himself and has already stated that he will attempt to repeat the past by taking his chance against Usyk (34).
Joshua answered "One hundred percent" when Joshua was asked if he would use the rematch clause. I'm available to return to training.
"Because the 12 rounds, my lung and all, it was an excellent 12-rounder, so when I return to training, I'll have a good starting point.
Eddie Hearn, the promoter, stated that if Eddie refuses to accept the rematch clause he will not be able to win his world championships again... perhaps ever.
Ruiz was also a victim of the same fate. To be truthful, I would probably have advised him to not take the Ruiz match following that type of loss.
"It was out-boxed tonight, but Ruiz went down four to five times against him and he was stopped very badly in that fight."
"Tonight, he was out-boxed. He started to get a bit beat up towards end. But there were many reasons.
"But I don’t see any other option. He won't want to have a ten rounder at the O2. He will want to win his belts back.
"And he deserves to be commended for that. This time, he was the underdog in the rematch.
