OLEKSANDRUSYK would like his lucrative rematch against Anthony Joshua to be held in front of a packed crowd at Ukraine’s Olympic Stadium, which holds 70,000 spectators.
The undisputed champion at cruiserweight put on a masterclass against AJ to win the unified heavyweight titles.
Oleksandr Usyk won the unified heavyweight title
Joshua, 31 years old, is expected to use the rematch clause in his contract against the Ukrainian. He is looking to defend his title on his home turf.
According to the 34-year old, he said that he would love to see the match at Olympiyskiy Stadium.
Eddie Hearn, the promoter, says that Usyk vs Joshua 2 will likely be held in the UK.
Matchroom Boxing's chief stated that they will collaborate to maximize (the income), but Ukraine is unlikely.
"I believe it will be international, or the UK. I would imagine it would be in Britain."
Hearn told IFL TV that he and Alex [Krassyuk] will sit down and discuss where the fight makes sense, generates the most money, and creates the most interest. There are many things.
"AJ doesn't care where it's located. "AJ would prefer to do it in London but we'll just have to wait and see.
"Usyk is the champion, this is his night. They deserve it. Great guy, great team.
Joshua, despite being outclassed in Usyk's eyes, is determined to settle the score with his London 2012 Olympian.
After the fight, AJ was dejected and said: "What went wrong?"
"I just suffered a loss. I couldn't see past the 9th round. My eye was closed, but it was a great experience.
"In adversity you have to learn how to control yourself. It was the first time it had ever happened to me. I was only looking out of one eyes.
"I want it 100% it was a 12 rounder and it will make me better.
Hearn believes that the former two-time champion of unified heavyweight must seize the chance to reclaim his belts.
He stated that if he doesn't take the immediate match, he might never have a chance to fight again for them.
"I don’t see any other option. He will not want a 10-rounder at the O2 and that should be commended.
"That's his fight, he wants to be remembered for that type of fighter."
