He was beaten in Las Vegas because his bold roll of the dice didn't pay off.
De La Hoya was once a promoter for Canelo but refused to criticize the Mexican star and instead took aim at Eddie Hearn.
USA Today quoted him as saying: "The fact the promoter of the event pushed Bivol onto Canelo was the dumbest move boxing has ever seen."
It's not boxing. It was the dumbest move. Canelo was allowed to fight Bivol by someone I don't know.

Canelo, 31 years old, terminated his contract in 2020 with De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions due to fight inactivity.
Hearn and PBC were his free agents, so he was able to capture all four 168lb super middleweight belts.
Canelo has fought only once at 175lb light heavyweight, defeating Sergey Kovalev (39), in 2019.
However, he could not repeat his win against Kovalev's Russian counterpart Bivol (31), who is now open for a rematch.
