OTTO WALLIN will work with his team to push the WBC for a reschedule of the Dillian Whyte fight in the hopes of getting a rematch with WBC champ Tyson Fury.
After Whyte sustained an injury while training, the WBC interim title bout on October 30 was cancelled and the Swedish boxer is devastated.
Dillian Whyte is out of his WBC interim title fight against Otto Wallin
because he sustained a shoulder injury during training.
This means that Whyte remains Fury's mandatory challenger, and he defended it with an 11th-roundKO of Deontay wilder in their trilogy.
Wallin's promoter Dmitriy Salaita, however, wants the fight to be rescheduled as soon possible. He will also take his case to WBC if necessary.
Fury was given some rough moments by Wallin (30), when they fought in 2019. Fury needed 47 stitches to close a huge cut on her forehead.
In spite of the messy situation, however, Gypsy King won unanimous points victory.
Salita said to Sky Sports about the Whyte fight cancelation: It's very disappointing
"If it's an injury, he should be treated immediately and the event should be rescheduled. This would be fair.
"It would be unfair to the sport boxing for Dillian Whyte have an injury, whatever that may be, and as such, to be allowed to fight Fury.
"Otto is now ready to travel to the UK. This fight was the perfect eliminator to Fury's fight. He had a full training camp.
"The fight must be rescheduled for another date, and the winner should fight Tyson Fury. Any other arrangement would be unfair to boxing and Otto Wallin.
"We will petition the WBC to make an announcement.
"That's the right decision - Tyson Fury fights Whyte-Wallin.
"The WBC will adopt what I consider an important decision. This should be a good start."
SunSports has learned that Whyte sustained a shoulder injury while training and is currently unable to compete.
DAZN, Matchroom and Alen Babic are moving ahead with the rest. Eric Molina is the new main attraction.
SunSport has learned that Babic (30) offered to fight Wallin, but the Swede's side refused.
