Amir Khan has until December 31, 2009 to exercise his Kell Brook Rematch Clause

The famously difficult to negotiate fight also included a rematch clause in their contract.

Brook's win was a brutal one. He is now in line to receive another handsome pay cheque on British soil, provided he is willing and able to take the risk of a perfect swansong.

However, Sheffield's ex-world welterweight champion Brook was not able to look for a possible next fight until Khan decides.

SunSport reported that he believed Brook [fights again]. One thing is for certain, however: Amir Khan has a rematch clause in the contract.

"A lot people don't expect him to activate that, us included. But at the same, I've heard lots around the camp about the jet lag.

"It could also be that he didn't take Kell as seriously, or that he was not open to the idea of a few memers leaving their camp.

"They have at most two to three weeks to activate the rematch clause."

Brook, 35, said Khan's biggest mistake had been giving him half a calendar year to get ready for the biggest fight of their careers and stay in peak physical condition.

Khan, now 35, flew to America in November to begin his training camp with Brian McIntyre, his new coach.

Just over a week after the 2004 Olympic silver medalist returned home, it was at the Manchester Arena that he was sentenced.

Shalom said he heard whispers from Khan's camp suggesting that a rematch is still possible.

He stated that he didn't believe a rematch could be ruled out, but it was in his hands. If he wants to rematch, he has the right.

He feels like he didn’t give an honest account of himself.

"Perhaps he was jetlagged. He only had a 10-week camp, while Kell was training to last six months.

"But I don’t know. He took a lot punishment, but he never went down. It's not in mine, I don't know. That's the problem here.

"Amir will have to make a decision, and I don’t know what he’s going to do."

Khan suggested that he would retire following his bitter loss, which would end a long and distinguished career.

Shalom said that the Bolton hero feels regrettable about his loss.

Khan will enjoy a well-deserved vacation in Dubai where he shares a holiday home and wife Faryal.

Shalom said, "I spoke to Faryal and him more. Obviously, he's gutted.

He's upset and his pride is hurt. It's not a good experience. But, this fight meant a lot to him.

He doesn't feel like the way he should have performed.

"He thinks he underestimated Kell. He'll be fine. He has been to Dubai and is now taking some time off. We are hopeful that he will be able to recover.
