Ricky Hatton's Fear of Premature Stoppage
Ricky Hatton has expressed concerns that if Tyson Fury's "horrific" cut reopens during his fight with Oleksandr Usyk, the bout could be stopped prematurely. Fury was set to face Usyk in the heavyweight division's first four-belt unification bout on February 17.
Rescheduled Bout and Recovery Time
However, a cut suffered in sparring just two weeks before the fight forced Fury to pull out, requiring over ten stitches to mend. The historic undisputed title decider has now been rescheduled to May 18, giving Fury approximately three months to recover.
Hatton's Reassurance
Hatton believes that Fury would have received the necessary medical attention to ensure the cut does not affect the fight significantly. Despite the limited recovery time, Hatton stated that the cut would have to open dramatically for the referee to consider stopping the high-stakes match.
Past Fight and Recovery
Fury's last fight was in October against MMA star Francis Ngannou, where he narrowly escaped disaster after being dropped by the opponent. Hatton, who was ringside for the bout, mentioned that Fury's condition was not at its best and that Ngannou proved to be a tougher challenge than anticipated.

Support for Fury
As a supporter of Fury and a close friend of the family, Hatton remains confident in Fury's abilities despite the recent setback. He recalled the memorable occasion of Fury's fight against Ngannou in Saudi Arabia, where numerous champions and celebrities were in attendance.
