Ryan Garcia beats Emmanuel Tagoe to win his comeback fight after 15 months absence.

RYAN GARCIA celebrated his return to boxing with a near-shutout against Emmanuel Tagoe.

American lightweight sensation Luke Campbell was defeated by the American in seven rounds in January 2021.

He was unable to work due to his mental health issues and injuries for 15 months before he made his return.

He did it against Ghanian Tagoe who was stubborn and looked to have survived the fight for the 12 rounds.

However, Garcia won the tournament with a knockdown in round 2.

He stated, "I have nothing but respect for Tagoe. He fought a tough fight."

"I believe if I had started pushing him harder at the beginning of the fight, he would have gotten out of there.

"But what can i say? It was an interesting experience to cut the ring with someone who was fighting to survive.

After Tagoe (33), was bundled to the floor by Garcia, Garcia, 23, made a quick start to the fight.

He failed to act on it and stop the flow of traffic, a sign that more was to come.

Garcia would continue to dominate the fight for the remainder of the rounds, using heavy left hooks and right hand strikes.

Tagoe, however, was eager to grab, hold, and move while he avoided engaging in a fight.

It was clear that Garcia tried to back Tagoe repeatedly, but failed to strike a decisive blow despite being threatened a few times.

The fight was over and the lightweight contest won. Joe Goosen became his first trainer.

Veteran Goosen was hired to replace Canelo's adored coach Eddy Reynoso.

Garcia stated, "It felt great man. I was super comfortable with his in the ring.

Joe is my best friend and we have a wonderful relationship. I love Joe. He is the most amazing guy."
