RYAN GARCIA claims that Devin Haney, the undisputed lightweight king, doesn't possess enough "killer instincts" to become a boxing star.
Haney gave a masterclass in boxing to George Kambosos Jr. last month and won unanimously.
Devin Haney was crowned the unified lightweight champion after a spectacular win over George Kambosos.
The American performed a spectacular performance Down Under
Ryan Garcia wasn't impressed with his opponent's performance.
Garcia was not impressed with Haney's dominance Down Under. He attributes his inability to finish the match to a lack ferocity.
BoxingScene was told by he: "I think the way that I grew up, and we just always talk s**t.
"I don’t mean to be rude when I speak smack. I simply say congratulations to [Haney–Kambosos] when I see him as a fellow athlete.
"Was it boring to me?" Yes. Could he have displayed flashes of a killer instinct. Some people don't possess it.
He doesn't have it. It will be felt by him when he is there with me, and he understands what I mean. He is not an offensive fighter.
You can be offensively good and not get hit. Floyd Mayweather used numbers to get people hit and did not get hit.
He didn't move about. He was a master of instinct. Devin is not like that.
"He just boxed his victory and I am very proud of him."
Garcia will return to action on Saturday against Javier Fortuna. But Garcia is already planning a thrilling showdown with WBA (regular 135lb champ Gervonta) Davis.
He stated, "It's pretty clear where we are heading once we pass Fortuna.
"I will be campaigning for Gervonta's fight.
"We want transparency about the process in order to show the people that this fight is important to us. I am always open to finding ways to make the truth more visible and to clear up the confusion."
Garcia, undefeated, is looking forward to a brief night at work and says: "I'm a great fighter."
"I will show you the differences between me, Jojo Diaz, and Robert Easter Jr.
"Nothing can be guaranteed, but I am 99.999 percent certain I will take Fortuna out of my hands early."
