It has been a long time since the fight between Ryan Garcia & Javier Fortuna was supposed to take place, but it is now.
Garcia pulled out of the fight to improve his mental health. After sustaining a wrist injury, Garcia was supposed to fight in November 2021. However, he didn't.
After pulling out of two fights, Garcia defeated Emmanuel Tagoe in his return. He was also present at the ringside in Brooklyn, calling out Gervonta Davis because he hopes to fight Davis following this fight.
Garcia must first fight Fortuna, which will be his most difficult fight to date.
Fortuna defeated Luke Campbell via TKO round seven in January 2021. This shows that Garcia will face another world-class opponent.
Fortuna is coming off a clear loss to Diaz in July, but he did rebound in February with a knockout in the first round. Fortuna will now be able to fight in the fight that he has been waiting almost a whole year for.
