Marshall was the only person to beat Shields in their amateur days. She spent the first round boxing and moving, gaging Shields' long range.
In round three, she ended the show with dramatic style as former world champion Hermans, 32 was knocked out by a huge left hand.
Shields, a double Olympic gold medalist, will now wear her WBC, WBA, and IBF belts to avenge her 2012 defeat by Marshall.
She stated that she had as much punch power and was sorry to admit, but if that's the only thing I can look forward to, it will be a wipeout.
Marshall is a heavyweight with ten KOs in twelve wins. But Shields, the undisputed champion at two-weight, remains fearless.
The US star stated: "You must have power, skill, and you have all that to beat me."
"It won't take one punch to deal with me. It's going be a lot."
