Savannah Marshall Signs With PFL To Pursue MMA career

Undisputed Super-Middleweight World Champion Makes the Switch

Following in the footsteps of other women's boxing stars, Savannah Marshall has decided to transition to the world of MMA. The current undisputed super-middleweight world champion has recently signed with the Professional Fighters League (PFL) in pursuit of a new challenge.

Thrilled to Begin the Journey

In a statement, Marshall expressed her excitement about joining the PFL and the talented female combat sports athletes in the league. She is determined to continue raising the profile of women in sports through her participation in PFLW.

Format and Stages of PFL

The PFL operates on a seasonal format that includes qualifying and knockout stages. Competitors in each weight class have two regular season bouts, earning points based on the method of victory. The top four fighters advance to the win-or-go-home semis and final stages, where they compete for the title belt and a $1 million prize.

Expected MMA Debut in 2024

Marshall, who recently secured all four 168lb titles with a victory over Franchon Crews-Dezurn, is anticipated to make her MMA debut in 2024. She joins the ranks of fellow boxing legend Amanda Serrano and fighter Claressa Shields, who was already signed with the PFL.

Potential Rematch with Claressa Shields

Claressa Shields, who holds a 1-1 record in MMA, defeated Marshall in their middleweight super-fight last September. With both fighters now in the MMA world, there is a possibility of a rematch in the cage. Shields responded to the news, implying that Marshall aspires to be like her and offered her congratulations.
