Showtime gives Jake Paul hope against Tommy Fury, with Showtime eager to make "one more attempt" to reschedule the grudge fight

TOMMY FURRY is now hopeful of a fight against Jake Paul, with Showtime still keen to reschedule the grudge match.

Celebrity boxing rivals Fury and Jones signed a contract to fight each other in December 2013. However, Fury was forced to withdraw after breaking ribs during training.

They tried again on August 6th, but the reality TV star was forced to leave due to a US visa problem.

Paul, 25 years old, instead agreed to face Hasim Rahman Jr., 31, on short notice. He is yet to confirm if he will be considering fighting Fury in future.

Stephen Espinoza, President of Showtime Sports, confirmed that he would be willing to discover if three is really the lucky number.

SunSport spoke with Espinoza: "Personally, the network would have been very interested in doing it.

"Obviously, we'd need to ensure that all details are in order and that there is no interference - regardless of whether it's travel arrangements or any other similar.

"But for our part the network would still want to be interested. It is not clear if Jake would like to take that route a third time.

"I think he is hesitant and hesitant, as this is the second occasion for different reasons that this has occurred."

"But I believe that there is enough rivalry and enough interest to make it worth our while that we probably should try again."

After Fury, 23, initially withdrew, Paul defeated Tyron Woodley (ex-UFC champion), 40.

He lost to Woodley on points four months prior and it was the first time he had fought a recognized boxer.

Paul was able to source a substitute for Hasim Sr., a heavyweight Rahman.

Espinoza thinks that the Showtime PPV fight at New York's Madison Square Garden will be even more difficult for 5-0 Paul.

He stated that Rahman Jr was the idea and concept of Rahman Jr. and that he has some recognition and a name. He is very credible as fighter.

"And he was willingly to come in on the terms that were offered and we were able save the event.

"I believe it's a harder fight and just as interesting of a matchup."

Paul, who beat online rival AnEsonGib, ex-NBA player Nate Robinson (38), and former UFC welterweight Ben Askren (38), almost saw his return canceled.

Rahman, who lost only once in 13 bouts, saved Fury's card and left Fury's feuding with Paul still simmering.

Espinoza stated that there is a lot of history, a lot talking, and a lot rivalry between Jake Fury and Tommy Fury.

"This idea has been in the making for almost a year.

"Look, Tommy Fury is not completely to blame. He was prepared. He signed the contract and was ready to board a plane if other circumstances prevented him from doing so.

"And it couldn't be solved in time for fight. Perhaps it can be solved later.

"I believe there is still unfinished business between Jake & Tommy.

"And, quite frankly, we were very close just to cancelling the event. We looked for a new date for the fall - whether it be with Tommy or someone else."
