Former world champion Timothy Bradley has sensationally accused Tyson Fury of staging the elbow that forced his fight with Oleksandr Usyk to be canceled. Fury suffered a horror cut in sparring just two weeks before the planned undisputed title decider in Saudi Arabia. Grainy footage revealed that a sparring partner accidentally landed the fatal blow that caused over ten stitches in the hospital. However, Bradley believes there is something fishy about the incident and questions whether Fury deliberately set it up.
Accusations of a Staged Cut
Timothy Bradley, a former world champion, has raised suspicions about Tyson Fury's injury. He claims that the video of the incident, shot with low-quality equipment, looks suspicious and that the punch actually landed on Fury's chin, not his eye. Bradley suggests that Fury might have orchestrated the cut to delay the fight with Usyk. Although there is no evidence to support this claim, Bradley's accusations have caused a stir in the boxing world.
Fury's Recovery and Rescheduled Fight
Tyson Fury has since agreed to reschedule the fight with Oleksandr Usyk to May 18, following the horror cut in sparring. Fury, who had been preparing in Riyadh away from his family, now faces a longer wait for the biggest payday of his career. The baseless accusations and conspiracy theories surrounding his injury have led promoter Frank Warren to defend Fury, calling the claims libelous and scandalous.
"Some of the stuff that’s been going out, I’ve never heard anything like it," said Warren. "Has Tyson got make-believe stitches in his eye? What they’re saying is libelous and scandalous. It’s like some kind of cult against him. He can’t continue training as such. He can tick over. He can get on the bike and keep well but when you’re training for a fight, you’re training to reach your ultimate best, your peak. Now he has to wind down and set everything back in motion to get himself up and ready and make sure he’s at his best for May 18."
