Accused of Dodging Payment for Car Park at £1 Million Mansion
Tyson Fury, the two-time heavyweight boxing champion, along with his father John Fury and brother Shane Fury, are set to appear in court today. They are accused of evading an £82,000 council tax bill for a car park adjacent to their £1 million mansion in Styal. The Cheshire East Council claims that the trio has failed to pay the sum, and if found guilty, they could face a liability order or even up to three months in jail.
High-Profile Absences at the Hearing
John Fury, who currently resides at the Styal property, has arrived at Chester Magistrates Court for the hearing. However, Tyson Fury, worth an estimated £130 million, is not in the country as he jetted off to Saudi Arabia on a private jet last week. Shane Fury is also absent from the proceedings.
Potential Enforcement Action
If the Furys are found guilty, they could face "enforcement action," which may involve a bailiff reclaiming assets from the family. The property in question features multiple caravans and motorhomes parked behind imposing black gates.
A Family of Boxers
Tyson Fury, known as The Gypsy King, stands at an impressive 6ft 9in. His father, John Fury, is a former professional boxer and bare-knuckle fighter, who has previously served time in jail. Shane Fury is a former superheavyweight amateur boxer. Tyson also has other boxing brothers, including Love Island star Tommy Fury.

Liability Orders and Scrutiny
Barrister Sarah Robson, a fixed costs specialist at Alpha Court Chambers, explained that people often become aware of a liability order only when bailiffs are sent to their property. These cases are typically processed in batches and are rubber-stamped without thorough examination.
