Promoter Frank Warren Gives Update on Gypsy King's Next Fight
Tyson Fury's highly anticipated clash with Oleksandr Usyk is unlikely to happen on December 23 as originally planned, according to promoter Frank Warren. The fight may be pushed back to March instead. This news comes after Fury's controversial split-decision win over Francis Ngannou, during which he was dropped by Ngannou in the third round. Despite many believing Ngannou did enough to secure the victory, two of the three judges saw it in favor of Fury.
Provisional Date for Fury-Usyk Fight Now "Doubtful"
Warren revealed that the provisional date for the Fury-Usyk fight on December 23 is now "doubtful." He also pointed out that the Riyadh season runs until March, suggesting that the latest the fight will happen is in that month. The delay may disappoint fans who were eagerly awaiting the first ever four-belt undisputed world heavyweight title fight.
Fury Non-Committal About Usyk Fight
During his post-fight interview, Fury was non-committal when asked about the Usyk fight. He mentioned that he had been in a tough training camp for 12 weeks and needed a long rest before deciding what's next for him. However, when Usyk entered the ring for a face-to-face, Fury expressed his eagerness to fight, stating that they were supposed to fight in April at Wembley but it never happened. He also mentioned that the fight could take place in Saudi Arabia with the support of Turki Al-Sheikh.
It seems fans may have to wait until 2024 to witness the long-awaited clash between Fury and Usyk for the undisputed heavyweight championship of the world.
