TYSON FURY was given permission to fight Dillian Whyte in the UK - provided he beats Deontay wilder first.
Fury will face Wilder in the next round of a tri-fibre bout, and WBC mandatory Whyte will likely be called to face Fury.
Tyson Fury will fight Dillian Whyte in the UK
After Oleksandr Usyk defeated Anthony Joshua, all hopes of a title decider between the British and American superstars were dashed.
WBC is likely to use this opportunity to order Whyte to fight Otto Wallin October 30 to compete for the belt.
Bob Arum, Fury's US promoter, likes that sound and even teased fans with an extravagant night here.
Arum stated to iFL TV that "Dillian Whyte" is the number-one contender and that it could be a big fight for Tyson.
"Particularly if it was held in the UK. So that's not out the question. Dillian Whyte can be a heavyweight.
"A Tyson Fury or Wilder fight would be very interesting, regardless of who wins on October 9th."
"I believe Tyson Fury is a better heavyweight than Anthony Joshua. But it's heavyweight, and everything is possible in the heavyweight division."
Joshua, 31, lost his WBA, IBF, and WBO belts at Tottenham's stadium to Usyk, 34. He was unable to unify the division.
It is possible that Usyk or AJ could put up the titles for a final decider with a rematch following.
Whyte was the WBC's No1 ranking contender for over 1,000 days before he was finally elected as mandatory challenger.
His title shot was ended in smoke in August 2020 after a shocking knockout loss to Alexander Povetkin.
After winning the first round against Povetkin (41), Whyte, 33, returned the favor in the fourth round to secure his place as the next in line for WBC title.
Joshua was previously in negotiations for unification with Fury, but the WBC hadn't officially made their mandatory.
After a lengthy arbitration case, Fury was ordered to join his contracted trilogy bout with Wilder.
Joshua was then forced to defend his belts from Usyk, which resulted in a disastrous defeat.
He will now exercise his right for an immediate rematch. This will end any unification hopes.
As long as Whyte defeats Otto Wallin (30 on October 30), he will be in line to face Fury and Wilder.
Eddie Hearn, his promoter, said that it was a very interesting situation. It's possible for anything to happen.
"In an ideal universe, Tyson Fury would beat Deontay Wilder. The mandatory is called to Dillian Whyte.
"Dillian Whyte beats Tyson Fury and AJ beats Usyk. Then we had Whyte against AJ to decide the undisputed summer."
