The verbal war between Tyson Fury, Deontay Wilder escalated once more when Fury claimed that he 'faked Covid' to get their trilogy fight called off.
Instead, the WBC champion claimed that he had contracted the virus TWICE. He was left feeling weak and terrible with illness.
Tyson Fury claimed he had tested positive for Covid twice
Wilder repeatedly accused his opponent of using a positive Covid to justify their third fight.
Fury claimed that his camp was justified in moving the meeting to October after an outbreak of the virus.
Boxing Scene was told by Deontay Wilder that he didn't care about his opinions. "If we want to make this public, then we will have medical records from doctors in Las Vegas who have tested me.
"I don’t believe you can fake COVID when you have a PCR test done. They stick a large thing up your nose. Either you've got it or not.
"I would not want Covid and I would get out of a Deontay wilder fight.
"Why would you want to throw away $20-30,000,000 to fight someone that I've already knocked down quite comfortably?"
With Fury recovering from his recent Covid scare, the fight will be held at Vegas' T-Mobile Arena on Oct. 9.
According to the Brit, it was his second exposure to the virus. He lost his senses of taste and smell.
He said, "I have had Covid twice. It was once in 2020, and again a few months ago.
The first time was much harder. I lost my senses of smell and taste. I felt weak and terrible. I felt much better the second time.
"But with Covid, you can't fight because you won't be allowed to fight anyway, even though you want to."
The Vegas winner is likely to be in the firing line for Oleksandr Usyk, the new champion.
Anthony Joshua was defeated by the Ukrainian fighter and he wants to fight him again.
